Dr. Jae Park
 
 

Dr. Park joined Institute for Cyber Security (ICS), University of Texas at San Antonio as Associate Professor of Research in fall 2009. He pioneered the area of Usage Control (UCON) and known for his seminal works on a family of UCON Models in cyber security research community. His UCON papers have been cited over 1500 times (Google Scholar Citation Index).  According to ACM digital library, The UCONABC Usage Control Model paper has been listed in the Top 10 Most Cited Articles published in TISSEC, one of the highly regarded computer security journals. Usage Control has been frequently identified as a research topic in leading security and privacy conferences and journals.  

Before joining ICS, He taught for five years at Eastern Michigan University and George Mason University as an assistant professor and an adjunct professor respectively. He was a research associate at Laboratory for Information Security Technology (LIST), George Mason University and at Center for Intellectual Property, University of Maryland University College.

His research interests include basic and applied security and privacy  issues in various today’s (and future) computing systems such as social computing, cloud computing and Internet of Things. His current research focuses on Secure Provenance-aware systems, Graph data security and privacy, Secure Information Sharing and dissemination control in distributed computing systems, modern access control models and mechanisms, etc. He received his Ph.D. in Information Technology from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA in 2003, MS degree in Information Systems Technologies from the George Washington University, Washington DC in 1998 and his BBA degree in Information Management from Dongguk University, Seoul, Korea in 1995. He was formerly a software engineer at POSDATA Co. Ltd. Seoul.
